Unlike Coats of Arms and Crests, there are no strict rules or laws governing the wearing of tartans. Typically, people wear the tartan associated with their surname or district.

The crest of a Chief may be worn by members of the Family (or Clan) and of approved Septs and followers of the Chief, within  a strap and buckle bearing the Chief's motto. It is for personal wear only, and may not be used on business cards, stationery or ornaments, unless these are the personal property of the Chief. (A modified version is shown here.)

Offers on Durie Family merchandise

This web site is the first incarnation of the The Durie Family's outreach activities. In order to achieve the other aims, we will, of course, need funds. We will therefore be offering Durie merchandise and published material through the on-line shop, family history services, including genealogy on-line and, as a paid service, individual family searches and the achievement of Arms legally in Scotland for those who are eligible. We will also actively seek investments, donations and grants.

Like to be involved?

The Circle of Duries will be looking for Ambassadors to be the local contacts for Duries in various part of the world.
