Durie Genealogy

This section covers fascinating historic detail and includes database resources covering Durie family events. It contains information from old parish registers (OPR) and statutory records in Scotland up to 1805 and the 1841 census. The data have been compiled from a variety of sources and in many cases involved a comparison of ScotlandsPeople and Ancestry.com against the original records. Not everyone is there – some may have been miss-transcribed, for example as Davie or Dairy, or completely missed. This section is continually being expanded and will include later records and the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census returns, where law and the UK Data Protection Act allow, so this is an area to which you may want to return often.

You can view the family tree of the chief, Andrew Maule Dewar Durie of Durie, showing his descent from Richard de Doure in 1200.

The Family Genealogist, Dr Bruce Durie, can provide a service to Members to help unwrap their ancestry. How to access this is described in the Members’ part of the website or contact Dr Bruce Durie: click here
