Scandinavian Duries

We would like any Scandinavian Duries or those in Scandinavia with Durie connections who have information on their familes to help us build up this section. Please send us names and some information about their lives and families. Send it and if possible photographs as well to information@duriefamily.co.uk. Durie Family Association members will, we hope, be able to provide detail they have on parents, grandparents and ancestors to help us all build up our extended Family Tree. How to send information to the DFA can be found in the Members’ area of the website.

It is likely you could be descended from Consul Charles John Durie, the eighth child of John Durie and Katharine Stark, and John was the sixth child of George Durie, 7th of Craigluscar. Charles was born on 6th January 1778 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland,   served in the Londonderry Militia and from 1815 to 1832 was British Consul in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. However, Charles blotted his copybook, he was dismissed without pension. Charles met and married Eliza Hall (m: 27 Mar 1800 Londonderry, Ireland) who died 13th February 1843, but not before they had a total of at least 8 sons 6 daughters. These spread all over the world and are known to have settled in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Are you descended from Charles? Or from whom are you descended? Please send us information on your family.
