DR BRUCE DURIE – PROMOTED AIG ACADEMICIAN
Dr Bruce Durie, Shennachie to The Chief and to the DFA, has been promoted to be an Academician in The International Academy of Genealogy - AIG. Académie internationale de généalogie was founded in Turin, Italy, in 1998 in order to gather competent specialists in genealogy, to represent the various cultural areas in the world. It also encourages and co-ordinates genealogical studies at an international level, and promotes colloquiums and meetings on a world scale - in order to raise the status of genealogy
There are just under 60 Academicians, only one other is from Britain - the great Hugh Peskett - and Bruce is the only Scottish-based one.
There is a biannual International Congress with published papers, shared with the International Academy for Heraldry – the most recent was held in Glasgow in 2016, and Bruce was on the Organising Committee. In the intervening years, there is an AIG Colloque – this year it was held in Montreal, Quebec, 19-23 June 2017
